Hassan Jameel, heir to one of Saudi Arabia’s most prominent business families, has orchestrated two major mobility partnerships that could reshape transportation in the Kingdom and beyond.

Abdul Latif Jameel, the conglomerate founded by Hassan’s grandfather in 1945, recently inked agreements with electric aircraft manufacturer Joby Aviation and ride-sharing giant Uber Technologies. Combined, these deals represent a significant bet on future transportation technologies.

The Joby partnership envisions distributing up to 200 electric air taxis valued at roughly $1 billion, while the Uber agreement targets creation of 30,000 jobs through autonomous vehicle fleet operations.

These moves reflect the third-generation leader’s vision for transforming Abdul Latif Jameel from a traditional automotive distributor into a mobility technology pioneer. The company has distributed Toyota vehicles in Saudi Arabia since 1955 and maintains dealership operations across multiple continents.

“We are looking forward to collaborating with Joby to support the transformation of Saudi’s mobility sector,” Hassan Jameel said of the aviation partnership.

Both agreements align with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s Vision 2030 initiative, which seeks to diversify Saudi Arabia’s economy away from oil dependence. The Kingdom has invested heavily in futuristic transportation projects, including a proposed high-speed rail network and smart city developments.

Hassan Jameel previously served on the board of electric truck manufacturer Rivian, where Abdul Latif Jameel was an early investor. The family’s investment arm has backed various technology companies while maintaining core automotive operations.

The latest partnerships position Abdul Latif Jameel at the intersection of traditional automotive expertise and emerging mobility solutions. Hassan Jameel holds business degrees from Sophia University in Tokyo and London Business School, reflecting the family’s international outlook.

With operations spanning 35 countries and over 11,000 employees, Abdul Latif Jameel continues expanding beyond its Middle Eastern roots while leveraging regional growth opportunities.
